Default Fact Stranger than Fiction

Davey was in one of the last outposts of civilization, many moons ago
now.

Yellowkinfe, to be exact, way in the north of FreezerLand waiting for a
plane to ferry him back to warmer climes when he spotted a group of
nuns.

Normally Davey, who doesn't do the Cult Thing, wouldn't have given them
a second glance, except that he thought he recognized one of them.

So he sneaked another peak and sure enough, Davey was sure he recognized
her.

So very politely, Davey said, "Excuse me, lady, but are you not Barb
Mapplebeck?"

After advising that she was Sister SomethingOrOther, she admitted that
she had in fact been Barbara Mapplebeck in a former life.

The daughter of Johnny Mapplebeck, of Whittaker and Mapplebeck
framebuilders and bike shop in Bradford, she had been successful in
races in the 50's and early 60's. She'd been runner up in the National
Championship behind BB a couple of times and active on the grass tracks
too.

Still in businesss today, although morphed into Pennine Cycles,
Whittaker and Mapplebeck must be the oldest family run bikeshop in
England.

(Not to be confused with Ellis-Briggs, as many do, which is [relatively]
close by in Shipley and which is another fine frame builder.)

Interesting....
