Of course it has. As has your own country, in spades.

Just get the facts straight as to when, where, how and context.

Did I ever attempt to deny it? We invented concentration camps, for
example. And we invaded another country recently without the benefit
of declaration of war, without UN support, against the advice of the
weapons inspection teams on the ground, and in clear contravention of
international law. That's a ****ty trick and I hope it doesn't catch
on with people who want some natural resource we have some time.

Luckily at least in the UK one is not denounced as a traitor for
failing to be enthusiastic about the whole sorry mess.

You need to get out mo

"If you do not support our President's decisions you are a traitor."
http://www.probush.com/traitor.htm

"I am prepared * just this once * to name a traitor: Pinch
Sulzberger, publisher of the New York Times."
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/a...20030918.shtml

Let's not even get started on Talk Radio.

A website page entitled "Traitors List", an ultraconservative columnist bashing
a NY Times editor, and the assorted loonies on both the left and right that
populate talk radio-- do you truly believe that these speak for the
overwhelming majority of the country? If so, I'd suggest maybe you should take
some of your own advice and get out a little more. If this really is a majority
opinion then where are all the arrests and jailings of dissidents, the burnings
in effigy, the public lynchings? There aren't any because while the
overwhelming majority of US citizens may not *like* the dissent and by
extension the dissenters they don't condemn them as traitors. Which of course
was exactly my point.

And this is a significant point. Who is it that demands that EVERYONE
without exception likes what they hear from leftist morons or the entire
country is somehow guilty of not having the same respect for the Consitution
as the lefties pretend to do (while redefining marriage to suit their own
version of 'English').

As a matter of fact, the *only* use of the word "traitor" I've heard in

this
context has been by those that oppose the war in Iraq. I've heard it used

in
two ways by them. The first has been in attempts to stake out the high

moral
ground, "Anyone that supports the war is a traitor to true American

ideals".
The second use has been by way of staking out a claim to persecuted

status,
"Some will call me a traitor for this but...." when in fact, no one *has*.

That
second use is not too different from me saying, "Some will call me godlike

for
this but...". *Could* someone say that? I guess it's possible but it's

highly
unlikely. Not unless they knew me personally anyway. g

Talk IS cheap.

Any way, the "speak for the overwhelming majority" qualifier is just
weasel words, easy to hide behind and almost impossible to refute.

The radio waves are filled with traitor accusations, Fox "News" is
the number one cable news station. More than a handful of loonies
are tuning in those programs, making the media execs very happy, and
chilling the public dialog.
