Illusion of speed
How come in my car I can sit on 50 kmh and it feels like I can step outside
and walk as fast. On the other hand, screaming down a hill on my Road bike at 50kmh, its feels like whoooosssssssshhhhhhhh faster than lightning, and if I fall off, I am ancient history. bazz |

You might notice it more if you had a convertible, but you said it yourself - "whoooooosssshhh" - the wind effect is part of it. Also, you see more of the road on a bike than you do in a car as it's that much closer to your face. -- Alan Erskine We can get people to the Moon in five years, not the fifteen GWB proposes. Try jumping out of your car while doing 50Km/h. You'll find it feels much like jumping off a bike at 50. The wind, and the lack of glass and metal surrounding you would also have something to do with perception. -- Linux Registered User # 302622 http://counter.li.org |

Get into screaming down hills at 70kmh, then 50 doesn't feel fast -- aeek |

Try jumping of a train, car or bike at 50 and you will feel that it is all the same type of censored Bert -- Posted by news://news.nb.nu |
