Don't undertake. Especially buses. One thing to remember about buses is

"The first accident happened at about 7.45am today outside Vauxhall
Tube. It is believed the cyclist, thought to have been a courier, was
hit from behind by the lorry. The bicycle was dragged along Vauxhall
bridge before the driver realised."

Hardly the cyclists fault.

I do agree with your first line though, which is what appears to have
happened in the second incident.

I posted this before Paul's post had arrived, but the bloody postman
must have stopped to look at the flowers, avoid a dog or something.
The Post Office should never have taken their bikes away.

perhaps the first one had filtered to the front of the queue and swerved in
front of the lorry or into an asl area.

Our posties still ride bikes, but their gaffers now force them to wear

Or perhaps the cyclist was a base jumper with a Brompton.

Or perhaps the lorry driver was distracted by the sight of hordes of
rats. They outnumber humans by a great amount, as you know.

possibly, but I expect it was the cyclist's fault in any case, after all it
usually is.

interesting.
