So, what was it you saw in Denver that made you say:

"The gayest place I EVER saw was Denver. San Francisco seems
downright straight in comparison. "

You couldn't walk one mile down a street in Denver without a car pulling
over and some guy asking if you wanted a ride while sucking on his
thumb.Every time I went off base that occurred and I was there for a year.

So why did you keep walking down the street?

(Sorry, couldn't resist)

been running the mines had been adequately compensated already.

Howard, you're discussing accounting details
with Greg, which is fine, but has little to do
with the fact that Tom is a raving lunatic who
just justified the coup, overthrow and death of Allende
by lying. He implied that Allende wasn't fairly
elected (wrong) and that Allende's accession was
dubious because of the death of General Schneider
(highly misleading - Schneider was a proponent
of keeping the military out of politics, his
kidnapping was fomented by the CIA, and the
resulting fiasco forced the Parliament to seat
Allende, but he had actually won a plurality
in the election a month before the Schneider
kidnapping/assassination). These are basic facts
that can be checked anywhere, including wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvador_Allende

Lying Tom Kunich thinks it was all right for the
US government to protect American businesses by
depriving Chileans of democracy for 20 years.

You're quite right, Ben. I was trying to do better on my Kun-Anon pledge but that
wasn't the time. I did get sidetracked on talking about the economic aspect of his
bull**** but that misses the entire point of what we'd been discussing. I'd argued
with LTK about the situation in Chile at least once previously and he brushed off the
number of people who died after the Pinochet coup as insignificant because other
people (like Pol Pot or Stalin) killed more. I'd say that he was mistaken about what
actually happened in Chile with Allende if he hadn't been demonstrating for years
that he will tell blatant falsehoods and try to bluster his way into not admitting
them to be falsehoods (how frequently have we seen him acknowledge being wrong in one
of these kinds of thread?). We got into a discussion of Chile because Ron Ruff
pointed out that the US has helped topple democratically elected governments in other
countries; whether Tom Kunich does or doesn't like the policies or positions of
people like Allende or Iran's Mossadegh, they *were* democratically elected to lead
their respective country and the CIA had no business knocking them over.

I realize that this forum (RBR) is pretty small change in the big scheme of
things, but I do think it's important to make sure things are presented in as honest
and truthful a way as possible. I can only speak for myself, but that's one of the
main reasons I've been in these kinds of discussions with Kunich so frequently. It
isn't just that I think his views are often reprehensible (as is his presentation of
them) but that he's so frequently factually wrong. That, and the way he'll do things
like trivialize the subsequent suffering of the people of a country that the US has
handed over to a dictator because that country's leadership might cause trouble for
US business interests, is rather nauseating. Anyway, thanks for posting the
correction that I should have, Ben.

Sounds pretty seedy but I don't see how this compares favorably to your
story of SF issuing permits and closing streets for open air gay S&M
parties. I don't mean to sound like I'm doubting you. In this area I
acknowledge your vastly greater experience. I'm just trying to
understand your rating system.

Would you allow yourself to be chased off the streets by these perverts?
Hell, the air base had thousands of men there who had the same experience
every day. Pretty pitiful.

In San Francisco the gays don't proposition people walking along Broadway.
In Denver they would in an instant.

Everyone should believe that an anonymous poster has all the information you
need.

Fact is that I never "brushed off" Pinochet because of volume of deaths or
any other reason. But it certainly seems a bit strange that the same people
that complain about Pinochet's crimes are the same people pushing socialism
and who never seemed to have found the time to complain about Stalin's or
Mao's tens of millions murdered.

But anonymous posters have just too much courage for me to face.

Hee, Hee

I bet Heinrich was ****ting bricks the day that British Bobby arresred
Pinochet.

But the fix was in, they declared him too old an infirm to stand trial
so Heinrich got a free pass.

Let's see now. The Froggies didn't think twice about putting Maréchal
Philippe Pétain on trial for Treason for doing exactly what the
Warmonger Churchill had planned to do if the situation warranted it.

And Old Mary Stuart went one better. When one of her rebellious
Lords died before he could be tried for Treason, she had the ******
dug up and hauled his corpse into court anyway.

Yet another paratrooper wounded in Afghanistan has been threatened by
a Muslim visitor to the British hospital where he is recovering.

This is not the first such case. Seriously wounded soldiers have
complained that they are worried about their safety after being left
on wards that are open to the public at Selly Oak Hospital,
Birmingham.

On one occasion a member of the Parachute Regiment, still dressed in
his combat uniform after being evacuated from Afghanistan, was
accosted by a Muslim over the British involvement in the country.

And with most of the non professional hospital staff and security
being Muslims these days, access to the wards is never a problem
