Bike Repair in Portland, OR
Man, this thread needs some updating!
City bikes is great for renting a stand, and they are the Goodwill of used 90's equipment if you need a cheap used part to keep on the road. Bike Gallery is the second most expensive shop in town, but they give straight talk. There is a good little shop on NE Alberta called Community Cycling Center, which has the cheapest parts and are of much higher quality and better condition than City Bikes, plus they are not too cool or hassled to answer questions. A little spacey though. Dont get too philosopical with them; they are a great resource for cycle tourists or visiting cyclists, Only! They are open Tues-Sun until 7pm. Philosophical questions and another good repair shop is on 20th and SE Hawthorne, just down the street from the hostel on Hawthorne; I think its two lights toward the city. Coventry Cycles has some old timers who pre-date indexed shifting, but they go Recumbants, and Rivendell there. Good shop! Continental cycles in Beaverton is long gone (previous post in this thread) |
