Default Cincinnati Bike Shops - Bicycle spoken here

Shops offer knowledge for everyone from toddlers to experienced riders

Fabulous finds is a periodic series that focuses on where to find the
things you want.

When it comes to bicycles, one size doesn't fit all. Nor does one type.

Some cyclists thrive on rough, off-road trails. Others prefer fast-paced
road racing. There's nothing wrong with leisurely rides around the
neighborhood, either. And some people enjoy a little of everything.

A specialty bike shop can determine what suits your needs, such as a
mountain, road, hybrid, recumbent or BMX bike. Its staff will size you for
a bike and properly assemble, adjust and lube it.

Here's a selection of shops that sell and service bikes for children,
entry-level adult cyclists and experienced enthusiasts. All offer test
rides, and they'll repair any bike.

CAMPUS CYCLERY

241 W. McMillan St., Clifton Heights. 513-721-6628;
www.campuscyclery.com.

Years in business: 35

What's special: The shop's location makes it popular with commuters. The
staff, avid cyclists, has seen an uptick in interest in fixed-gear bikes,
which have a single gear; whenever the bike moves, the pedals go around.
One year free service with bike purchase.

CYCLE SPORT

10657 Loveland-Madeira Road, Loveland. 513-683-0550; www.cyclesport.net.

Years in business: 15

What's special: The staff likes to get new riders on bikes, but caters to
experienced cyclists, too. Open seven days, so if the cycling urge hits,
one can pedal out of the shop and onto the nearby Little Miami Bike Trail.
Free adjustments for a year, usually done while you wait.

MONTGOMERY CYCLERY & FITNESS

Montgomery: 9449 Montgomery Road, 513-793-3855. West Chester Township: 8975
Cincinnati Columbus Road, 513-779-6767. Anderson Township: 8483 Beechmont
Ave., 513-474-5888. Erlanger: 3708 Dixie Highway, 859-342-7300. Cold
Spring: 365 Crossroads Blvd., 859-781-4480. www.montgomerycyclery.com.

Years in business: 43

What's special: Thousands of bikes in stock. Named a Top 100 Retailer by
Bicycle Retailer and Industry News. Free adjustments for a year. Open seven
days.

WEST CHESTER CYCLERY

9304 Cincinnati Columbus Road, 513-777-9742; www.westchestercylery.com.

Years in business: 25.

What's special: Most of the staff has 10 years or more experience. One year
free service with purchase. Even during the summer season, repairs usually
done within two-three days.

RESER BICYCLE OUTFITTERS

Eighth and Monmouth streets, Newport, 859-261-6187; www.reserbicycle.com.

Years in business: 8

What's special: The shop has an experienced staff and is known for its
advocacy of cycling in the area, such as creation of new trails. Buy a bike
here and get free tune-ups as long as you own it. Quick turnarounds on
repairs.
