Simply unreal.

"One appeared, wrongly, to be under the impression that inconsiderate
cyclists ignoring the 'cyclists dismount' signs were breaking the law
and this incensed him."

Just widen the bridge and call it a day.

We need legislation that would widen any route by a meter for 5 km in both directions from any place where any cyclist was killed.

Regardless of historical landmarks and other buildings.

And who will pay for that Not the cyclists that's for sure.

No, we need to enforce Cyclists Dismount regulations and crush a few
push bikes.

Geo taxation is good for the economy, i.e., lower unemployment, lower housing costs, lower poverty, higher productivity, etc. (See Henry George's irrefutable land value tax arguments in _Progress and Poverty_ (1880))

Just tax fossil carbon and build better infrastructure with that money!
