Evans: will never win Tour (age + Contador)
Sast got his victory (now it's over)
Menchov: will never win tour (has La vuelta)
VDV: will never win tour (might get caught for doping)
Kohl: who the hell is he? (will get caught for doping)
Valverde: might win tour one day (cause he's Spanish)
Cunego: will never win Tour (cause he's Italian)
Sanchez: will win tour one day (fill in....)
Devolder: will win tour one day (it will be a death match with
Contador)
Monfort: will probably win in 2 or 3 years (might be clean and
improving..a rarity)
A. Schleck: will never win tour ( I don't think white jerseys have
done too good years after)
F. Schleck : I have no idea...
Kreuziger .....has to be doping; if not, I apologize to him and assume
him a great rider
Tens Dam: Has to win the tour one day (Holland has to have a champion)

I am convinced by this analysis that in the future, no riders will win
the Tour.

And really, the odds of any one doing so are so small, even in the
aggregate it must be impossible,

White jersey winners that have also won the Tour in the same year:

Fignon
Ullrich
Contador

White jersey winners that won a later Tour

Lemond
Pantani
Ullrich

White jersey winners that have won other grand tours:

Hampsten
Basso
Menchov
Cunego
Moser

When you consider that the white jersey has only been
awarded since 1975 I think it has a pretty good
record as a predictor of grand tour success.

Tell that to Karpets, Cunego, Sevilla, and a dozen others I can't
remember. Let me search for that list, I'll be right back. And you
have to take Ullrich, Hampsten, and Basso off the list...we know why
they won.

Might as well cancel it then and have a fatty master criterium
around the Champs-Élysées (as a matter of morbid interest, how
do your American commentators pronounce Champs-Élysées ?).

You forgot to edit out Lemond and Fignon.

Breukink, Sevilla, Mancebo, and Popovych have all
finished on a grand tour podium.

So out of the 30 white jersey winners, 10 have also
won a grand tour. And 13 of them at least made it onto
a grand tour podium.

I agree with you completely that the white jersey is
a good predictor of grand tour success.

I listen to Phil and Paul on the Outdoor Life Network:

http://www.tsn.ca/oln/

So they pronounce it like I do.
