Default Shimano Gear Hub Maintenance Oil

Shimano wants nearly $80 for a liter of their gear hub maintenance oil:

Can someone suggest a cheaper equivalent? Transmission oil?

Transmission fluid is designed for higher rpms and a longer service
interval, it would never work.

Default Shimano Gear Hub Maintenance Oil

Aaron of Aaron's bicycle repair uses phil's oil when relubricating
gear hubs. Mobile ATF Synthetic has been reported to work fine by a
number of alfine users as well.
