Au contraire, He wanted to be free to contemplate His navel for all eternity (and incidentally to be able to listen to the music of Beethoven undisturbed).[...] Hey Ed, You should really watch this video then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRgXUFnfKIY&feature=channel_page. Many thanks for the extremely interesting link. But let us share this with all the denizens of these lowly cycling newsgroups. They deserve some culture and refinement too. What is presented is a graphical score animation of the lst movement of the Beethoven 5th. It shows with absolute clarity the complexity involved with the simplest 4 note motive ever in the field of fine art music. View this YouTube video and marvel all over again at the genius of Beethoven. Yes, the Beethoven 5th is a warhorse, but for good reason. The entire 5th Symphony is in fact a perfect work of art. As Mr. Sherman has pointed out in a previous message to these newsgroups, there have only been a few hundred individulas in the entire history of the human race who were capable of composing classical fine art music. That is how complex it is. And the Beethoven 5th is perfect! [...] I wish that Stephen Malinowski would do the same for the final movement of Haydn's 104th - another piece built around one simple melodic idea.
