I'd like to cattle prod those fraternity boys onto a prison bus and dump
them off at Attica and see what happens to them in their cute little
Argyle kits. And somebody tell the dude sitting next to Pate - is that
Farrar (?) - to lay off the "hi" setting on the Vidal Sassoon blow
dryer.

Jesus ****ing Christ.

And how come this team talks about its Tour de France like it was
successful? They didn't win a single stage and they lost the GC. Sounds
like they lost to me. You'll never see the losing team in the World Series
say they had a "great" series even though they lost simply because they made
a few good plays.

Cyclists are such pussies when it comes to admitting they lost.

Why do sport teams like banners hanging from their ceilings stating
"Eastern Division Champions" when they did not win the ultimate title?
Why do people get class rings in high school when they know they're
going to go to college?

You do bring up an interesting dynamic though. If the sprinters' teams
did not do a lot of the chasing in the last hour or so to bring back
breakaways, it would put a lot more stress on the team protecting the
leader's jersey. We could see teams implode and the jersey change hands
more frequently if the leader's team had to shoulder the work
exclusively. But it could also lead to more negative racing if the
potential leaders told their teams just to sit back and do nothing. And
potential leaders' attacks would be shut down much more quickly. Also,
if there was no credit given to the stage winners, far fewer breaks
would be attempted, making much less of a spectacle.

BTW, Garmin haven't lost the race yet; the top three on gc just haven't
been nailed for doping.

I disagree with high school sports for doing that. It made everyone feel like
they were a champion when they in fact won nothing. But at the professional
level, there's really no excuse for padding resumes with gay smiley face stickers
from the teacher.

Pro sports is suppose to be cut-throat, not a friendly game where everybody goes
home with a smiley face sticker on their homework assignment.

Let's not pussify pro cycling. Some athletes understand and respect what pro
sports is about.

If Lance had a season like Anorexic Drew Carey's team did, instead of talking
about how great it was, he would be found in hs garage inside a running car with
a pool filter hose going from his muffler directly into his car sideview window
with all the doors locked and windows rolled up.

You haven't been to any pro or college football or basketball stadiums,
have you? Multibillion dollar sport industries, all. Even Formula One
gives the Manufacturer's Championship.

So Lance shouldn't have been happy with his TdF stage wins in the early
90's and should have considered those races less than successful, right?
Maybe you should use Contador as the standard measure of success, not Lance.

Can you think of any reason that a team would enter a multiday tour if they
didn't have a real contender? That is why they have mountains jerseys,
sprinters jerseys etc. Without those there would only be three or four teams
entered.

In fact I have attended many Southwest conference games, so I know all about big
football programs. A lot of those guys go on to the pros. I don't have a problem
with it. Still, you know what they use in college sports to determine the winner?
The SCOREBOARD.

In cycling, there are 19 different scoreboards, with a different guy and different
team trying to "win" each one of them. It's gay. In football, when a team loses,
the coach yells at them. In cycling, when a team loses Anorexic Drew Carey gets on
Velonews and talks about how much success he had at the Tour.

It's a pussification of cycling. Now that Lance is back, he can school these
pretenders as to what real professional level competition is about - and it ain't
about getting waxed in the sprint of some trashcan breakaway.

Tommy Can You Hear Me,

In all other professional sports, there's only one winner, one scoreboard.
Everybody on the playing field is competing for the same trophy. In cycling,
70% of the teams show up conceding victory and then focus on these bizarre
statistics that in reality should be nothing but statistics.

Only in cycling are most teams so poorly managed that they show up to stage
races knowing they cannot win one. You won't see a baseball team, or football
team, or a NASCAR team showing up to ANY competition and forfeiting the win
just to chase some silly statistical category that has NOTHING to do with
winning the event.

Imagine in tennis if 70% of the players at Wimbledon showed up and instead of
trying to win the match, they tried to hit the most second serve aces and then
claimed they "won" if they did that even though they lost the match 6-1, 6-0,
6-1.

What cycling has done with these multi-winner races is a disgrace to the
concept of professional sports. There's not a single team that walks away
from the Tour de France not claiming it "won" something. That's is ****ing
gay. It's pathetic.

And it better stop.

Magilla
