So you think you can do a trackstand?
Per Andre Jute:
You reckon the whole thing is a Photoshop special, Sherlock? I don't know enough to make a judgment graphics-wise. But, in addition to the elbows/grass thing, his posture/balance doesn't look right for supporting 40 lbs or so on his forehead. OTOH, the two ladies certainly seem tb looking at *something*. -- PeteCresswell |

But in practice all graphics sent up to the net are either deliberately or automatically processed somewhere along the line to correct colour balance and, if the poster is at all conscientious, by sharpening (not at all what it sounds like, the actual process of choice is "unsharp mask"). That makes it dicey to say with certainty whether the photo is a composite unless... Most fraudulent photoshoppers are caught because they lack the necessary skills, because they are crude. Some of even the sophisticated and skilled are caught because Joe Blow no longer believes that a photograph can't lie. But a picture still tells a thousand words, which we have now spent trying to work out the truth of that photo. Andre Jute Truth is a subdivision of liberty |

Dear Pete, A few more examples of people who seem to be looking at something implausible: http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/HG...Hulton-Archive http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/33...Hulton-Archive http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/AB06287/Retrofile http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/JD.../Hulton-Archiv As the caption for the last photo suggests, you could make a handsome living doing tricks like that before television (and before photoshop). Another bike-on-the-forehead photo: http://www.photographersgalleryza.co...ng-bycicle.jpg Photo of Edward Jackman balancing a bicycle on his forehead while juggling four clubs: http://tinyurl.com/yjuzgbp "Waldemar Paetzold would balance a bicycle on his forehead while his left hand held a spinning hat on the end of a stick and his right hand juggled two other hats." http://tinyurl.com/ykjjjax You can hire Tim Salisbury to balance a bicycle on his forehead: http://www.entertainmentbytim.com/entertainment.htm http://www.entertainmentbytim.com/im...gling_bike.jpg Here's a fellow playing a guitar while balancing a bike on his forehead: http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/7...ae5aba2ul8.jpg (It's easier to use the seat instead of the tire, like Salisbury and the guitarist.) For a movie of a fellow balancing a similar bicycle on the bridge of his nose, go to about 7:19 he http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=74835 A more modern bike-balancing movie, at about 2:45: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCpyHLnKQJI Cheers, Carl Fogel |
