8sp Ultegra barends --> 7sp XT der & cassette?

Could I index shift a 7sp XT rear der, and cassette, using Ultegra 8sp barends? My vague recollection is that the spacing is the same. It's roughly the same, works nicely here. -- MfG/Best regards helmut springer |

It is nearly the same, but off by 0.1 mm per cog. You could probably put in 8sp spacers and then it would be perfect. I believe the built-in-spacer small cogs are identical between 7 & 8sp, but I'm not absolutely sure. Anyway, there is only two of them so an accumulated error is not important, plus the outer cog (small) is controlled more by the r-der H-stop when it comes to indexing. |
