Crikey - you'll be able to afford fully comp now instead of just third party.

I haven't tried it but in theory it may be possible to drive 12 times a year and up to several thousand miles for $65 in insurance.

When it comes to cost/mile individual transportation, I'm second to none.

There is a guy around here that charges up his electric car using roof solar panels, so he pays no tax on fuel or VED.

California and/or the U.S. really need to take this opportunity to get a fuel and/or carbon tax.

Then I might be toppled from the top of the cheap heap.

The firm explained the thinking behind offering cycle club members cheaper
car insurance: "We have been able to demonstrate to motor underwriters
that cyclists, who are part of a club, are better car insurance risks
than the average driver due to their enhanced spatial awareness, road
alertness and healthy lifestyle."

there is a irony that, it's for bike club members, who on the whole
don't inspire confidence.

mainly cutting up others tailgating/drafting and other such stuff it's
the folks in club top on the whole.

the idea that folks ride better due to being in a club is frankly
wishful thinking it doesn't stand up.

watching when the boot is on the other foot, cyclist buzz pedestrians on
shared paths and so on, the idea being a cyclist makes a better driver
is suspect. bare in mind most people think they are better than average
driver....

Thirty-four pedestrians killed by psychopathic drivers on pavements and
footways... as opposed to 1 killed by a cyclist.

Hello ?

We have been able to demonstrate..... suggests they are talking money.

I suspect most cyclist drivers are more careful of cyclists when
driving. This does not mean they are not selfish, pushy, unpleasant
human beings or that they do not treat pedestrians badly when cycling.
What it may mean is that they are less like to be involved in collisions
with cyclists which cost the insurers money.

Follow the money so to speak.

It could also just be that there is no real risk difference and the
insurance underwriters think it is good PR for little cost.

So if cyclists travelled the same distance as cars do, cyclists would
kill 76 people, over twice as many as cars do at present.

But they don't.

And anyway shouldn't you be comparing miles travelled on the pavement.
