14 years for owners of killer cars
The owners of killer dogs are to face 14 years in prison.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/439...dangerous-pets .... And five years in prison if their dog hurts someone. Should the owners of vehicles that kill face equally high sentences. What cyclist and pedestrian safety measures would the owners of HGVs add to their vehicles if they faced 5 years in prison for running over an innocent third party's foot? Would car owners adequately maintain their vehicles tyres if they faced 12 years incarceration if their car killed someone? Is it fair for vehicle owners to take ultimate responsibility for their vehicle's safety? |

Where a driver has deliberately used his vehicle as a weapon I think that he/she has shown themselves unworthy of holding a driving licence and they should be banned for life. |

Where a driver or a cyclist has deliberately used his vehicle as a weapon against a human being, they should be imprisoned for life. The sentence should not be lighter for attempted murder than it is for successful murder. |

I am talking about owners taking responsibility, the owner is not always the same as the driver, and very often not the same in the case of HGVs. |
