Between this and Potter's post about the Cycle Event Director, I
wondering if he wrote the stuff on the label of Dr. Bronner's soap

you know, every so often i decide to buy that soap, but then when i
start reading the writing on the label, i always freak out, and instead
i carefully replace it on the shelf and back away.

(good comparison, c.s.)

"We're truly committed to maintaining a good relationship, but
not a marriage."? Why should he take that commitment any more
seriously than his wedding vows?

It's a bit easier to maintain a friendship. Talking once a month or
less will do that. No need to alter your core to fit another person,
which is what a marriage takes. You really can't see the difference?

Doug

I get his point. Commitment to a marriage is obviously a lot more important
to keep, and they failed at that. Credibility is an issue here.

Oh stop being such a cynic. The divorce rate in the US isn't that
much higher than the rest of the industrial nations
http://www.divorcemag.com/statistics/statsWorld.shtml
and I doubt that it has that much to do with Columbine. IIRC, the
kids from the Columbine incident had parents who weren't divorced.

But are their economies booming like ours (was)?

Maybe it's how our divorces are combined with lifestyles based on religion,
multilevel marketing, SUVs, tv, videogames, pro-sports, huge commutes,
overtime, and casinos that give us that special something extra.

How often are killer-kids parents divorced? How often are valedictorian-kids
parents married? ---No relation, I know.

Nah, must be something in the water in the good ol' US of A. Other
industrialized countries have even more never married and divorced families
and their kids don't go "Columbining".

They go on to create dysfunctional families all over again, obviously.
