Bicycle friendly town in Florida

Mount Dora is beautiful, I've gone skiing there several times. But climbing
up the
mountain on a bicycle is very difficult, and the snow level in the winter
could be
a problem unless you want to put chains or studded tires on your bicycle.
And
of course it's not on the coast or in the pan handle. Ever since Sunny
Delite left
Mount Dora, it hasn't been the same.

Take a look at Venice. My parents have a winter place down there, and I
have done a bit of biking on vacation and it seems to be doable. Its not
quite as crowded in as Sarasota or the bay area. There are some places
that you have to mix with traffic a bit, but there are also alternatives
to 19 for north south stuff.

Mount Dora in the last century. It ain't exactly a high snowfall area.

And Mount Dora isn't a mountain. There are some places you can ride to with
modest grades nearby like "Thrill Hill", "Buck Hill" and "Mount Sugar Loaf"
but these are not the Himalyas and there is narry a yak or sherpa in sight.

Well I've been to Mount Dora several times, and I even have an "I Climbed
Mount Dora" bumper sticker on my vehicle (in California). I was the founder
of the Mount Dora Ski Club as well. But technically you are correct, there
is no mountain and no snow in Mount Dora.

Im not opposed to hills or grades, my current area is nothing but hills. Im in the foothills of the appliachians. If I can bike the cumberlands and the smokies, I think I could handle a few grades in Florida. Thanks for all the info everyone, any more imperative info would be much appreciated.
