Johan Bruyneel crticizes Contador
http://translate.google.com/translat...sp&sl=nl&tl=en ""Contador has to learn that his fame is temporary" 03/12/2009 07:00 03/12/2009 07:00 Volgend seizoen begint sportdirecteur Johan Bruyneel samen met Lance Armstrong met een nieuw wielerteam, RadioShack. Next season starts sporting director Johan Bruyneel with Lance Armstrong in a new cycling team, Radio Shack. "Lance understands that he is a lot stronger than for the day will come this year." What does Armstrong's third place in the Tour this year to next year? The American now knows that there are others who are more bikes than he. Bruyneel: Lance expects his next season a lot stronger for the day comes. Dat zou ook logisch zijn. That would be logical. He returns three years after retirement when he did well in sports, but certainly not living as a professional athlete. Still third in the Tour - I must admit that I never thought possible. Now he goes in the winter with the basis of a true professional rider. This makes it next summer a few percent better automatically. Whether he is good enough to compete with Contador, the strongest rider of the peloton today, is another matter. Dat moeten we afwachten. We must wait. Contador said after the tour that he has no respect for human Armstrong. Dat is een uithaal die kan tellen. This is a howl that can count. Bruyneel: Everyone is free to say what he wants. And the statements of a young athlete should always be a little more understanding. I try to think how I would react if I was in his position. Contador is like a rocket shot up. In 2007 he won the Tour without anyone expected. Suddenly you're a superstar, a product, a god in the eyes of all Spaniards. And since he has so much money he wants. It is not easy for them to go in there as 26-year coureurtje from a suburb of Madrid. Ik heb dat niet kunnen afremmen. I can not slow down. Of toch niet genoeg, naar mijn zin. Or maybe not enough for my taste. That is another reason why I found it easier to part ways. Do not get me wrong, half Frank Vandenbroucke will not it be Tom Boonen and extravagances like he is focused, but Alberto must learn that fame is temporary. Zijn voeten moeten weer de grond raken. His feet should touch the ground again. Armstrong made a case that Contador has thanked his team enough after the Tour. Bruyneel: Ja... Bruyneel: Yes ... (denkt even na). (thinks a moment). Sorry, but I prefer to that question only. That those two themselves but also occasionally fight. (JVB)" |

Johan Bruyneel crticizes Contador
It's a reasonable criticism for Johan to make, but I think it's only
natural for a star who rose so quickly. The question is Alberto learning and adjusting to it. Personally I think Alberto is adapting well considering the amount of planning he is doing with Astana. TDF champions need to present a better example for the sport. With the exception of this minor incident Lance has conducted himself a true professional. LeMond told me so! (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cont...g-credibility- questioned ) ""For Contador, with an effort of twenty minutes at 90% VO2max, weight of 62 kg, maximum aerobic power is 493 watts, which gives an oxygen consumption of 6.17 liters / min: 99.5 ml / min / kg!" Vayer wrote. LeMond, in response, called on Contador to prove that he is physically capable of achieving these numbers without the use of performance- enhancing products, "assuming the validity of the calculations"." It's plausible question but it might be hard to test since riders are only at that form for a short time period. So the question then is how form affects V02...? This seems a like research for the UCI to answer. |
