Default Cyclocross videos info

After a few individual replies, to anticipate any more questions:

- Old files make way for new files. After recording a race and before
uploading it, I will delete the previous video from the server. The
"/tmp" bit in the url is a clue.
- Telling your cycling friends to go and download from my server is no
problem, just don't put notices up on busy web boards. Despite
Cyclingmorons.com, usenet is still obscure enough for the server to be
able to handle the load of all mine and your good friends from rbr. If
the load gets too high (say, 5000 hits/day), it ends.
- I bought a cheap tv card for my home pc and record from there. So I
will only record races when I'm home, behind the pc, checked the
schedule and didn't forget to start up the tv app. Still, that string of
events is not extremely rare.
- I record in VCD (MPEG-I) format, mainly because it's convenient both
for me and viewers; no external (divx/xvid/mpeg4) codecs required. The
cheap software that came with the cheap card does allow me to choose all
system-installed video codecs for recording, but then only the video
gets encoded, not the audio. Before every recording, I'd have to
manually set 8kHz 8bit mono PCM (wav) sound to keep the total filesize
down. Slightly worse video quality and absolutely horrible sound will
then result in a 40% file size reduction (~6MB/min). Maybe I'll do it,
but please don't bug me about file formats.
- I live in Holland. Dutch tv used to have more cycling on, especially
live cyclocross. Now the summary gets buried in programs with endless
hours and hours of football (soccer). I hate football. So when I want to
see cycling, I switch to Belgian tv. Both Flemish public (compare BBC)
channels are on cable in Holland, Flemish commercial stations are not.
The rights to the Superprestige and World Cup series have been bought by
one of the latter, DAMN IT!, so I don't get to see them either.

Have fun,
E.

Thanks for doing this ED.

I'm trying to finish up my collection of torrents of TdF 04 vids. If you're
interested in sharing these, you can email me and we can set up some
torrents or something.

I have several, with a few more in partial completion (going is slow); full
OLN versions, no commercials.

Let me know and I'll send my email addy (current spamtrap one is bogus; I
presume yours is also?)

I'm not especially interested in this year's Tour. History was made and
I fell asleep. Besides, my home connection has a measly ~35 kb/s net
upload speed. I did a few torrents before but as long as the faculty
isn't complaining it's easier for me to bring a cd and dump it on my
homepage.

About my e-mail address, it seems as though individual.net's policy and
privacy.net's owner have changed, and " is no longer
endorsed or recommended (or even mentioned) as the address to use if one
does not want to use one's own e-mail address. Munro, Chung and I have
to change it I guess. My real address is easily found on the homepage,
or derived as username@server-domain on both xs4all.nl and phys.uu.nl.

OK. Which year's Tour did you find the most interesting, or which you might
recommend (of those offered by WCP)?

Well thought I'd offer since you've been providing those very nice
cyclocross vids.
