Default Orange traffic light

To solve a dispute with a friend. What is an orange traffic light for, in your own words.

It means stop.

Alternatively, it means accelerate as hard as you can.

If you are a cyclist, it has no meaning.

If it means stop, why is it there? It must be different to red. When I were a lad we were taught it meant "go if safe to do so".

To me it has no meaning in a car or on a bike. Neither does red.

An alternative signal for "accelerate as hard as you can" is a vehicle a
little way ahead and in the next lane to the left indicating right to
move into your lane.

Are you one of those arseholes who won't let people change lane?

More and more cities are instituting a 10:30 PM curfew for everyone younger than 18.
Experts say keeping teens indoors at night is the only way to make the streets safe for adults.

If they also taught you that the light was called "orange" then we should
disregard any other stupidity they taught you and perhaps begin to
understand why your "claimed" driving is so poor.

You are good with alternative signals.

I suppose you (like a lot of women) have fifty words for various shades of purple too?

Hardly.

You don't "get" things, do you?

Steady amber means stop as long as it is safe to do so e.g. don't stop
if you would have to brake hard to stop at the line. Flashing amber
means proceed if the way is clear. Red and amber means get ready to go.
