Default Friday Night Ride to the Coast claims another victim.

A company director who did a day's work and then spent the night
cycling 120 kilometres, crashed his car as he drove home the next
morning and killed another driver. At the time of the crash, Nicolas
Day had gone 27 hours without sleep following his taking part in a
midnight cycle ride event from Hyde Park to Whitstable in Kent.

As he drove home to his family in St Albans, his BMW X5 veered into
the oncoming lane and struck a Nissan Micra killing the driver.
Day, told police he was a fit and athletic man and denied falling
asleep. The judge sentenced Day to seven months imprisonment
suspended for two years. He was told he must carry out 200 hours of
unpaid work and he was banned from driving for 18 months and his
licence endorsed.

[Doug mode] another cyclist walks free from the consequences of his
activities?

Wihich was a bike? The BMW X5 or the Nissan Micra?

I'll bet that it is the first, as it has the letters B, M and X.

The death was in large part a result of his cycling activities. He
went on an overnight cycle "event", where apparently alcohol laced
coffee was consumed by some riders while on the road. Then, having
not slept for over a day, he chose to drive his bike 90 miles home in
the back of his car.

QUOTE:

"The fact that he is a cyclist has nothing to do with this. When he is
in the car, he's a motorist, just like any other. Anyone knows that
they will be shattered after a ride like that - and getting behind the
wheel of a car, especially one as large as an X5 shows either a
remarkably failure of judgement or an astounding lack of regard for
other road users.

If he left his car there earlier, I tend to lean toward the latter. If
he wasn't a cyclist and had knocked one of us down. we'd be baying for
his blood. His sentence is way too light and my sympathies go to Mr
Viner's family."
