Motorists not welcome
A few miles away, off the beaten track there is a cafe for walkers,
horse riders and bicycle riders. No provision made for lazy people. It's always nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the quiet open space without the view blocked by large, smelly, noisy vehicles. On Wednesday my wife I went there to find it closed for the day. Except... they left a small kiosk, operated on an honesty basis; pick a selection of drinks, sandwiches and cakes from the counter and put money in a box. No cash? The details are given to do a bank transfer. It seems my wife and I must have arrived after it had been restocked and cleaned following a group of cyclists that had stolen everything and used it as a toilet. On the other hand, there must be an alternative explanation for the smooth running of this arrangement. Something impossible for the tiny minds of some to grasp. |

And on that theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJeF6GftV-M Pounder will be impotent for months. |

The water mains have been upgraded over many years here. One hot day my friend was told her water would be off all day but there was a supply of free bottled water at the village shop. She went to get a bottle only to find a few people had turned up in cars and taken the whole lot. I suppose that is one way cars are superior to bicycles, you can grab more than your fair share. |

There used to be a few around here but not so many now. Townies are pricing that type out of the countryside. We have many such places, also honey and jam. |

There must be an easier and less messy way to make an omelette. I think you may find that in this case 'back pocket' is actually a euphemism for another part of the body. |

More proof that everyone here can be glad they are not you. Cycle jerseys often have a pouch at the back designed to carry food and drink for those who don't want the extra weight of bottle cages or luggage. I prefer the luggage option (JVTV flashback) as my bicycle is a utility vehicle not a tennis racket. |
