This will be a good decade for horseback riding!
People have become so accustomed to easy transportation that requires
absolutely no labor (except, of course, the foot pressing the gas- pedal and brake, manually shifting with the right arm, flicking the turn signals, and occasionally flicking the wipers on). I'd like to see cycling become the main mode of transportation. However, there are much more easier ways to travel. Horse? Camel? Other animals? On the other hand, Bicycles require much less labor to maintain. Also, in the long run, they're much more inexpensive. But maybe this thought is TOO optimistic? What do you folks think? |

Unfortunately I think our politicians would rather build nuclear power stations to feed electric cars than create the infrastructure needed to make cycling an attractive option to all. Well, I doubt there is any infrastructure that will make cycling attractive to all. In fact, I doubt there's any that will make it attractive to all physically fit and active folks. Some people just prefer doing other things. OTOH, they've already built lots and lots of great infrastructure for cycling. They call them "paved roads" and I use them all the time. Wonderful stuff! I need nothing more. ( - Frank Krygowski |

But the whole point of bikes is that they don't need no seeking infrastructure -- you need steel mills, coal mines, railroads, etc. to build machines with thousands of precision parts, but we've already got all that, and bike manufacturers aren't even a blip in our industrial capacity. Once you've got the bike, you can take it anywhere there isn't a determined effort to stop you. And determined efforts don't always work. -- Joy Beeson joy beeson at comcast dot net |

This will be a good decade for ass riding!
I think we should get more inspired by Jesus and ride an ass, thus I
change the horse for the ass. I'm sure the original contributor and Jesus will forgive me for this...
