Default "Be safe on the roads" warning after cyclist's lamp blinds driver

"The driver whose dashboard camera recorded the incident off Lockwood Road
and up Swann Lane said the adult male cyclist was riding on a footpath"

GOSH!!! NEVER!

"Mirfield councillor Martyn Bolt, himself a keen cyclist and a trustee of
the charity Cycling UK, urged all road users to be mindful of safety
concerns as the darker months draw in."

This cyclist pillock said:

“It’s not a blanket offence to ride on the footpath. If it’s safe to do so
and then cyclist feels safer then they can"

Just take a look at the gormless face of the "keen cyclist"/councillor who
came out with this ****. Typical brain dead sponging cyclist who probably
lives in a stinking council house.

Pure stupidity rides a kids toy. Pure stupidity is a cyclist. And this
stupid cyclist is a councillor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"If it’s safe to do so...".

It is never safe to do so, so that's straight out the window.

The issue was whether the hagfish was a degenerate type of
vertebrate-fish that through evolution had lost its vertebra (the
original scheme) and was most closely related to lampreys, or whether
hagfish represent a stage that precedes the evolution of the vertebral
column (the alternative scheme) as is the case with lancelets. Recent
DNA evidence has supported the original scheme.

If your linked item doesn't qualify as 'fake news' then I think it
should get through as a 'storm in a teaspoon'.

The story is essentially one of yet another idiot unlawfully riding
their bicycle - at least this one has the virtue of being highly
visible - on the pavement. To pad out the story they've managed to
find a bias councillor who would not have otherwise condoned this
action... and that's about it. Hardly breaking news.

Correct. Not really news. Just another example of a cyclist getting it
all wrong again.

The only idiot I could see in the article was the Councillor Bolt.

First he tells us it is an offence to ride on the pavement, then he
tells us it isn't. This cyclist seems to be riding slowly enough to
interact comfortably with the pedestrian.

I would have thought anyone who rides a bike in a town knows that the
lights are not for illuminating the road. Instead they are to ensure the
cyclist is seen.

When I was being taught to drive I learnt the trick to not being blinded
by the lights of oncoming traffic was not to stare at the lights.

While not wishing to condone cycling on pavements, personally, as a
pedestrian, I don't have a problem with sharing that space with
cyclists who at least ride with consideration and courtesy for you.

I would have thought anyone who rides a bike in a town knows that the
lights are not for illuminating the road. Instead they are to ensure the

Good point.

Yes, we learn soon enough that the best way not to be blinded by the
sun is to not stare at it directly.
