Anyone but me notice how bland, boring and totally uninteresting ARBR is getting lately. I come on to ARBR loaded for bear and all I find are the most insipid posts imaginable. If this topic thread entitled "The Dream is back" is what ARBR is all about then I am going to go out and shoot myself. Or better, I will find another newsgroup which is more intellectually stimulating than this one. Mr. Prine is welcome to read these really horrific messages typical of this thread if he wants, but I would rather watch grass grow. I simply can't believe that a newsgroup is just for the exchange of really dumb messages. What a waste of Usenet and of the resources of the computer. At least my topic thread, "Ed Dolan on women", engendered a little lively discussion - even if 50% of the contributors were nothing less than total idiots. -- Regards, Ed Dolan - Minnesota |

Dolan on women", engendered a little lively discussion - even if 50% of the contributors were nothing less than total idiots. Well, it is hard to find *total* idiots, one must endeavor to smoke them out with ever more cunning methods. Actually, I agree with you on the recent content here...about as invigorating as watching 'raindrops' slide down the windows of one's home. When one is accidently locked *outside* said home and it's 12 degrees F, of course.... James S. Prine http://hometown.aol.com/jsprine/ |

Anything about recumbents, touring, cycling in general should do. Just imagine the glory of a post-Ed ARBR! As far as the dream coming back, right on! Just don't let Kill-joy Ed dampen your spirits. It's great to hear of people getting motivated. Train well and get out there. Send us all a note when it happens. Scott--Not missing Ed. |

Ponder this, you ****head:... You are a miserable creature." Both Tom and I have grown the hide of a rhinoceros as a result of the insults we are subjected to by the denizens of Usenet. I have never understood why we can't have disagreement about something without getting into invective. I think the problem is that many writing here have never had any intellectual type of discussions heretofore and they conclude that disagreement is tantamount to being disagreeable. I must confess that I occasionally lose all patience with some and go berserk myself, but I always try to provide some content for the discussion to revolve around despite the name calling. Just pure name calling is too infantile for words. I would agree that most here on ARBR are quite nice, but it only takes a few rotten apples to spoil the barrel. Everyone should follow my example and try to be nicer. But nice does not have to be bland and uninteresting. A little spice here and there is good for the old brain cells. -- Regards, Ed Dolan - Minnesota |

Well, a cheer leader I have never been. And I don't think ARBR needs to perform that particular function. It is up to an adult to motivate himself. Only children need encouragement to do what they ought to do. As far as I know, there are no children here - only us old men who are all over 40 years of age. Young folks wouldn't be caught dead on a recumbent. -- Regards, Ed Dolan - Minnesota |
