But none of the organisers of those events is stupid enough to take them
over a railway level crossing. Or mad enough to expect a railway to be
closed.

Next thing you will have people asking for the tide to be stopped so
people doing the Devises Westminster canoe race can all get out on the
tideway at high water. Senior doubles that don't make it to the lock in
the 2 hour time window can't complete the course get a "did not finish"
or have to wait putting 12 hours on their time (losers).

Normal people?...LOL. Most people find all of those sports akin to
watching grass grow, but hey! each to their own.
