How do you feel about entitled drivers?
Nate Nagel a.k.a. N8N writes:
Nobody's entitled, and nobody has any special privileges just because of their chosen mode of transportation. =v= If only. In fact, a bloated sense of entitlement is very much a part of the problem of motorist behavior: o Car-based transportation would be impossible without the staggering array of subsidy that props it up, yet motorists constantly whine about the costs anyway. o Even some of the densest cities devote 50%-75% of their land area to cars, but motorists whine about how hard it is to find (heavily-subsidized) parking, and feel they have a "right" to store their vehicles wherever they can fit them. o Motorists typically and constantly exceed the speed limit as much as possible and as often as possible, with the complicity of law enforcement. Amongst white people, it's usually the most egregious offenders who are stopped for speeding, and they whine and whine about that, too. o Don't even dare to mention the environmental or health impact that motorists impose on the rest of us, unless you want to get an earful of denialism, sob stories, or useless remarks about Al Gore's girth. =v= Have drivers pay the actual costs of their chosen mode of transportation out of pocket, and then we can talk about nobody having special privileges or entitlement. _Jym_ |
