The cyclist then swore at the parents and rode away, he is now facing
charges, I hope he has fridge freezer insurance to pay the child's
family plenty of compo. Video is incontrovertible evidence.

The comments are an interesting mix.

Try this one by Montgomery-the-4th, bournemouth, United Kingdom, about
an hour ago

"Im [sic] not taking sides here but she did just come out of nowhere?!"

Er... no. She came out of her garden gate onto a *foot*way.

"I often travek [sic] very fast on pavements myself but then again i
[sic] am highly skilled with rapid reactions, i [sic] probably could
have bunny hopped that little girl."

Jeez... the pillock fancies himself...

And what about this one...

Its a Weird World, Grimsby, United Kingdom, about an hour ago:

"Disgraceful - unattended toddlers on pavements can be knocked down by
all manner of things including people. It was the toddler being
unattended that is the issue here".

Another cyclist making excuses.

The scrote was given half a page in The Sun today so now everybody knows
what a low life he is.

The Sun is a tabloid. Half a page isn't all that much.

Exactly.
Just shows where The Sun has its priorities.

From experience and from many other confirmed reports from other
incidents, it seems more credible that the cyclist did swear at the
parents and ride away. However, even if we ignore the allegation of
swearing, a crime occurred, was witnessed and filmed.

What is particularly incredible is the claim that he did not know that
it was illegal to ride on the footway.

What is indisputable is that he WAS riding on the footway and that he
did crash into and injure a small child.

....including early reports of this incident...

....and he's supposed to be a clever chap.

What is indisputable is that he WAS riding on the footway and that he
did crash into and injure a small child...

....and then rode away.

Had he not ridden away, there would be no reason for the Independent to
report that he handed himself in at the police station the next day.
