apart from when they do, by their own stupidity cause an accident

There is no such thing as an 'accident'. They are all RTCs. If the
motorist can't avoid the cyclist then it is just a case of bad
driving, most likely going too fast for the conditions or not paying
proper attention, as usual.

driver had to make the unpleasant decision to hit another car. I would have
hit the cyclist.

Is that why cyclists get 'doored'?

The get doored ‘cos they ride in the door zone.

Wrong. They get doored because motorists open their doors without looking. Sometimes the only space cyclists have left, on our narrow overcrowded roads, is the door zone, with cars parked nose to tail on both sides of the road.

Pedestrians are unlit at night. What do you think headlamps are for? I suppose you will now come up with all sorts of nitpicky examples where you claim cyclists kill motorists, despite the vast majority where motorists kill cyclists and cyclists are unable to kill motorists.

There is something about this place that is overwhelmingly reminiscent
of Daisy Chains Nursery Group - if only we had a nice song that we
could all join in with, all the words and all the actions...

A pedestrian should be facing oncoming traffic to increase visibility and so
they can jump to the side if needed. an unlit cyclist wobbling about in the
dark on the left is a very different proposition.

Since cyclists are so very vulnerable to everything, it would be a good idea
if they took more care of themselves rather than rely on everyone else to do
it for them.

So why don't cars get 'doored' when passing closer & faster?
