Default Cycling Highlight of 2003

I think the highlight of my 2003 was meeting the PSF and coming away
alive. Second to that it must have been using STI shifters for the
first time and falling in love with them.

My resolutions for 2004 are as follows:

1) Stop taking the **** out of MTBers by overtaking them in a stupidly
low gear.

2) Find a place of work which is nicer to cycle to than Birmingham
city centre.

3) Marry Nicole Cooke.

Happy new year to you all.

I once had a tyre blow off the rim in the middle of Paradise Circus at
5.15pm on a weekday, and I had to take refuge on a traffic island for 10
whole minutes before I could cross to the safety of the pavement :-(

Not quite the same but I had a cam belt break on my car at the end of the
Aston Expressway. Because the radio was on loud I didn't notice until I went
to pull onto the roundabout :-(
Luckily it was only a matter of minutes before a friendly policeman towed me
clear as it was pre-mobile 'phone days.

That happened to me once too. As the lights changed I sprinted away from the
cars, opened a gap of a few yards, and my front tub rolled off, dumping me
unceremoniously in the middle of the Place de la Concorde (Paris). Ever
since the few moments that followed I have been very impressed by the skills
of Parisien drivers!
Happy New Year

My resolution is to comment only on cycling on this NG, and ignore
widespread road safety and safety equipment (H) threads.

I think the highlight of my 2003 was meeting the PSF and coming away
alive.

But that's because the PSF delighted in meeting a handsome young man ;-)

Cheers, helen s
