Default Ultimate Lance nightmare (could happen)

I have it figured out.

Contador dominates enough that there's no question who's going to be on the
top of the podium in Paris. No big deal.

Let's talk Ventoux. Lance works for Contador on Ventoux. The two of them
drop all others. Contador is clearly the strongest of the two. But Lance
wins the stage, and Contador later explains that allowing Lance to take
Ventoux was the least he could do for all his hard work.

Ventoux 2, Lance 0.

Turn that around a bit. Astana (AC and LA included) ride as a team and
put LA and AC
into the top two positions before the Ventoux
Let's say one is leading the other by 30 seconds.
They take turns following attacks on Ventoux and end up alone- or at
least with no GC contenders nearby.
Would Johan let them race?
And would they obey him?
That could be a truly classic showdown.
Sort of the stage race version of a long breakaway where two rivals
work together to insure podium spots but then go mano-a-mano for the
win.

I just wanted to bring this far fetched hypothetical back into the
spotlight.
