Default First UCI Pro Tour leader's jersey

From today's L'Equipe:
"... le president de l'UCI, Hein Verbruggen, a remis symboliquement hier a
Lance Armstrong le premier exemplaire du maillot de leader du Pro Tour."

Hmmm.

I'd have thought Cunego would have been a better choice.

Last year's UCI points ranking.

If Cunego were riding the first Pro Tour event, he'd probably have the
"honor" of wearing the first Pro Tour leader's jersey.

but Cunego just finished third place in Murcia (Spain), which ended as

He slipped his chain on the final climb but almost caught the leaders before
the stage finish yesterday. Time to take a cue from Marco and put a chain
watcher on his machine.

There were riders there today who either had more UCI points in 2004, or
more World Cup points in 2004, or both.
