They knew who he was, where he lived. Would it not have been more prudent to let him drive away normally and apprehend him latter? |

He rode through a red light, at night with no lights on his bike, then on the pavement, and initially failed to stop when requested to by the police. He then denied going through the red light, argued about the fact he had no lights, refused at first to give his name, denied being drunk...it was very amusing. |

I suspect that if they stop him before he gets out of the car they don't have to provide any other proof that he was the driver. Otherwise it might not be easy to make it stick. |
