Default ECG tests in Melbourne

Just been reading the latest issue of Tri and Multi Sport mag and there
is a write up on Ventricular Tachycardia and the benefits of havign a 12
lead ECG test. Has anyone in Melbourne had this done and have any
details on where and how much it costs?

IIRC a twelve lead resting ECG cost me about $30 at the SIA clinic in
Essendon (Vic) a few months ago. By the end of next week I'll be able
to tell you what a full blown exercise ECG costs and exactly how UNfit
I am...:-)

If you are under 40 and have no cardiac symptoms a "cold" ECG can do more
harm than good. Due to biological variation there will always be some
"false positives" which have to be investigated. Such investigations are
never completely without danger, and the chances of something REALLY being
wrong in a fit under-40-yr-old are pretty damn' slight.
If you don't happen to have the tachycardia when the ECG is being done
then nothing will show on the ECG.
