Default Aldag trades bike for running shoes

I just got sent this... not sure the source, can anyone confirm?

Former T-Mobile rider Rolf Aldag has retired from professional cycling,
but he hasn't given up sports. He announced yesterday that he will run
the marathon in Hamburg, Germany, on April 23. "A professional cyclist,
who rides in about 100 races a year, ought to be able to come in with a
time under 2 hours and 45 minutes, with a little training," said Aldag.
He is currently running between 100 and 140 kilometers a week.

(hehehe I just converted ANOTHER one!)

I saw on cycling news (I think???? don't quote me!) that a few of the
pro guys have been marathoning in the off season. For charity?? That's
gotta be the only reason they'd run?!?!? sick puppies otherwise

The problem with distance runners converting to cycling is they are a bit
like energiser bunnies - you just cannot kill them.

End of a long ride last Sunday - riding up the last climb beside a guy my
age and size and keeping together, maybe getting my wheel in front
occasionally.

He regrets his pace is down a bit, but he did a half marathon the day
before, and after 80km on the bike the day after "he's feeling a bit sore".

Having only completed a long lunch the day before myself, didn't feel quite
so chipper.

best, Andrew

Half marathon?! That's not distance! (sorry, couldn't help it)

Confirmed.
I think he is warming up for his time as expert during TV coverage
of TdF and other cycling events covered in TV.

They have to do that, because masters distance running is too damn
competitive ;-)
