For depriving alleged pirates their due process (not to mention heads from
their bodies)? After all, Secretary of State Clinton called the taking of
the ship and crew a "criminal action", not an act of war or terror (err,
"man-made disaster"); and only one person's life was at stake (not hundreds
or thousands as with other attacks -- past' planned or imminent). Even
President Obama in his statement following the rescue operation referred to
the pirates' action a "crime".

Piracy against US subjects on the high seas is defined as a crime with
Federal jurisdiction in Article I of the US constitution, an approach
codified in every international treaty on the subject.

You're trolling up the wrong creek, Bill.

Bill, if you want to get mad at "liberals" and the UN as it relates to
piracy, how about getting upset that them for even thinking about
these facts:

A contributing factor in the rise of Somali piracy is probably poverty
and environmental degradation that have increased due to overfishing
from western nations and also dumping of toxic material in some Somali
waters by entities from those other countries. Plus of course the
civil war.

Take a look at this, especially page 135:
http://www.unep.org.bh/Publications/...LIA_LAYOUT.pdf

I'm not excusing the actions of taking hostages or suggesting that
those three guys didn't deserve what they got -- I'm just trying to
understand the context in which piracy is flourishing, which might
help in avoiding the creation of hotbeds of piracy in the future.

Bill, you're just peeved that the "Socialist" scare-mongering tactic
didn't work. Nor did screwing with the voting machines.

Tough toenails, bub.

But, to answer your "question", the captain was one of ours, whatever
his opinion on the election. --D-y

Maybe. You'd have to ask them, not us. And you'd also have to verify
that Obama authorized shooting the pirates.

Really, if you're going to troll you have to do better than this.

What's wrong with you, Bill? Obama does something right, something
that was last done right in the administration of Theodore Rooseveld,
and you want the Houses of Hypocrisy to censure him? You Americans
truly don't know what you want.

I say Go, Obama, go. If you're the world's policeman, act like it.
There are a lot of pirates in the oceans around China, interfering
with trade on the high seas. Wipe them.

Policies, not personalities, my old son.

Somalis like to use automatic weapons and Rocket Propelled Gernades,
how about letting all merchant ships in the area carry these on board
for self defense.
