You must be joking but if not I'll wish the defense good luck
with that argument.

=v= I don't know any deatils, but this sentence was in the
Associated Press wire story:

| In court Thursday, public defender Tim Austin said the drugs
| and money were planted in Giove's truck, possibly by police.

=v= There was supposedly "more than" 200lbs found in her truck,
and "more than" 150lbs found in a house that the truck stopped
at, so the "400lbs" headline seems to come from adding those
two numbers and rounding up.

OF COURSE he has to suggest the dollars and dope were planted! What
would you expect a defense attorney to say, "My client is guilty."?
Google "Anthony Abbate" and/or "Peter Hickey" or just go to
suntimes.com and search there. When Pete defended Abbate he stated in
court that the video showing Abbate (a 200lb + drunken male) punching
a 100 lb female bartender who'd refused to serve him more liquor
clearly showed that Abbate was defending himself from her attack.
That's why a judge's instructions to a jury always includes the
caveat, "Statements by counsel, whether prosecution or defense, are
*NOT* evidence or testimony.", even when the statements are made, like
the statement by Austin, in court.
In the present case though let's assume that the money and weed *were*
planted. Who hated Missy and her codefendant so much they framed them
with nearly 400 lbs of weed and over a million bucks in cash? That
seems a rather extreme price to pay to "get" somebody, wouldn't you
say?

Bob
