I wrote "I would guess the offender was doing at least 20 mph on her bike". Did you miss it was a guess? It's plain English. No doubt the investigation will reveal what mistake the cyclist made. |

You have gone off at a tangent about motors car and speed limits. Perhaps your questions are leading up to asking what the speed limit is for cyclists. Not true as speed limits do not apply to cyclists on that road unlike for car drivers. |

The cyclist did not make a "mistake" - the pedestrian obviously walked out in front of her for some reason and was knocked down. An open and shut case. |

Is that the speed limit? For most cyclists, yes. I owuld guess the offender was doing at least 20 mph on her bike. Hi Pam, this thread appears to be getting ever more bizarre. I know you have undoubted talents but can you really look at a photo of a street and from that deduce what speed a cyclist was travelling at when they collided with a pedestrian last Wednesday afternoon? That thought is bizarre and truly worthy of you. Thanks. Bizarre but worthy, that's me. Any cyclist on any given street works out for themselves what the fastest speed is that they could do on it. Happens all the time. Yes, of course, they do. All the time. |

Parkgate is (or was) a popular gathering place for those out for a relaxing stroll along the former waterfront on the Dee estuary (west side of the Wirral peninsula). It is a historic location (links to Nelson and Lady Hamilton) and has never been known as a fast through-route. The phot shows it's a long straight road, ideal for cycling at speed if it weren't for pedestrians and narrow pavements. The "narrow pavements" might be part of the problem. Who do these pedestrians think they are, eh? Not even a trace of game playing in any of your posts, would you say? |

Why do you say "obviously walked out in front of [the cyclist]"? Is there the slightest evience for it, as opposed to the far more likely scenario where the cyclist was cycling furiously along a footway? |

Pensioner seriously injured after being hit by cyclist

Anything illegal about that? What is the speed limit for motor traffic along there? I’ve heard that some cyclists cycle at 25mph past schools in 20mph limits (or, at least, they did before they screwed up their bodies by jumping off bridges). Regardless of the technicalities of the law, I’m not sure such people are in much of a position to pontificate on matters of road safety. You do realise, by the way, that the truck driver will never get over what you did to him? It doesn’t matter whether you apologised. Incidents like that scar people mentally, for life. Unbelievable selfishness; all you had to do was score some smack, if necessary from the darkweb. Your wife will never get over it either. How could you even think of abandoning her like that? |
