WTB: Left Campy Ergo Lever -- Broken OK!!
Hi,
I'm looking for a left Campagnolo Ergo lever of the modern flat-top design. I plan to use this as a brake lever only and remove the shifter lever and other parts, so it doesn't matter if the shifter functionality is hosed. Only interested in something with a silver brake lever (no carbon) and must be cosmetically good. Chorus preferred, but open to anything if thge price is right! Cheers and safe riding, -Jack |

Well, it's not quite the same but you could get a set of the new
Tektro/Cane Creek brake levers. They're very similar in design. If you're going to keep a shifter in the right lever, it might be odd, but if you're building a single/fixie, then a set of these levers will set you back less than $30. I have them on my bikes and they're great--a little fatter in the body than Campy Ergo, but very comfortable. Nashbar and Icycles have them, among others. |

Well if it's functionally hosed it can be repaired so this might be tough to find. Only interested in something with a silver brake lever (no carbon) and must be cosmetically good. WTB: Left Campy Ergo Lever -- Broken OK!!
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the tip, but ... Actually I've tried the Tektro Campy-copy levers and also the Cane Creek short reach version. I wanted to like them -- I really, really did -- but for this cyclist with smaller than average hands the fat bodies were a total non-starter. The short reach Cane Creeks strike me as a particularly boneheaded product -- let's see, market a lever for small handed folks, bend the lever towards the bar so's they can reach it and make the lever bodies so fat that they can't get their hands around even if they forego gloves. The Tektro/Cane Creek levers sure look great and the price is hard to beat, but why couldn't they copy the lever body more faithfully? Both of my sets are now in use on friend's bikes, where they seem very happy (as do the friends). So, anyone got a left Ergo lever to sell? -Jack |
