Thanks Rod - we are going on a Tandem. First time we have ridden in a pack,
and being on a tandem does have its differences to single bikes, so that is
the only bit that is worrying us. Hopefully they can all put up with riding
with a tandem. We have been doing 200kms + each weekend now for the last
couple of months, so feel that our legs, bums, bike is ready. Have ridden
out as far as Mt Garnet and up and down to Cairns a few times, so this end
is familiar,
Looking forward to a new experience.
Kathy and Steve.

Im sure they will recover from the shame of sucking your wheel

In my first round-the-bay a few years back, got onto this couple on a
tandem and w sailed along at about 65kph from Frankston to Port
Melboune. Swallowed a fly (i dont know why...) but the protien shot kept
me going

Dutch did they have problems staying in the pack, ie downhill we cant
imagine sticking to pack speed, and if we do, our brakes will be absolutely
screaming! Comfy speed on the flat without wind for us is approx 35/40, but
give us a hill or a stiff wind (25 to 30 common up here this time of year)
and our combined weight just slows the tandem down. That is the bit that is
worrying us - simply that we will be a nuisance. But looking forward to it

Coast to coast ride? Sounds interesting. Tell me more.
Living on the West coast, haven't heard about this ride before.

Bj it is an 800kms ride from Cairns to Karumba in the Gulf of Carpentaria,
done over 6 days. Although you are on bitumen probably half of it is pretty
bad road. It is a charity ride

Hoping that people are charitable to 2 old tandem riders LOL.
