Default Penalty points for truck drivers caught breaking the law will now double

"Motorists caught using their mobile phones at the wheel face a fine of £150 as part of a Government crackdown on dangerous driving.

The Government's new road safety plan comes after a spate of cyclist deaths prompted concern over lorry drivers who continue to flout the law.

Penalty points for truck drivers caught using their phones will now double in a bid to prevent more deaths on roads."

That's mostly useless without more effective enforcement.

You (cyclists, plural) should send an open letter to the Prime Minister and
the Transport Secretary: either the police and courts start to enforce the
law, or else cyclists will have to do it for them.

There are many more inattentive car drivers doing this. That is what needs
clamping down on.

I think car drivers are less likely to drive over cyclists or
pedestrians at low speed while being totally oblivious to their
presence, in the way that HGV drivers seem to manage too easily.
