Swapping hands on the handle bars is far worse on a bike than in a 4 wheel vehicle. If you do try it go slow on thick grass or at least be ready to swap back really fast.

When I used to go on pub crawls on my bike, I'd often try and mount it several times and always fell off. Once under way though I could ride home perfectly OK.
