http://www.pendletoday.co.uk/news/cy...t-it-1-8256230 The driver was foolish for representing himself. He was convicted of failing to report a traffic accident (to the police) and was then banned under the totting-up procedure. But reporting is only compulsory in certain sets of specific circumstances, one of which is that an injury has been caused. And if the cyclist (who was completely at fault) said to the driver that he was not injured and just wanted to go home), how was any third party supposed to know differently - at the time? A good advocate could have secured a "no case to answer" at that hearing. |

Drivers are very naughty as well: Driver 'using THREE mobile phones behind the wheel' near Elephant and Castle. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/trans...-a3402471.html Next month it'll be illegal in to look at google maps unless it is on a dash board mounted screen. It's not clear how they'll enforce it. Glance down at your lap and you get pulled over? Paper maps are much more dangerous. In a society that is always tweaking even the most marginal safety advantages it's surprising the freeways are still open to any lunatic. In 10 years it is easy to imagine they'll only allow heavy vehicles and smart cars. __________________________________________________ ______________ Moment taxi driver 'swerves' into cyclist before angry row erupts in London street: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/trans...-a3403061.html Bret Cahill |

Lying to the police (is that actually an offence? - I don't know) "She said when the cyclist found his collar bone was broken, he reported the accident, presumably wanting some compensation." Cyclist looking for "compo" - surely not. |

Going back to the original article - so it's now illegal not to report a crime committed by someone else? -- Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off. |
