After riding around with this light on my mountain bike/gravel bike I've
had several people ask me about this light and where to get it. To make it easier to share the information I wrote up a little blurb on it in a shared Google Docs document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17TCGXl9N0dD6wNhNHAyf-ZeEfZLp2uf6A4D40BTgZwo/ http://tinyurl.com/ccfl26650. |

Looking at https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....AC_SL1000_.jpg I would say that is dangerous anywhere near a public road. |

SMS will in the future post an even brighter narrow beam light. I'd hate to be riding towards anyone using that light at night. Even a driver would probably be blinded by it. Cheers |

Also, Scharf's post lacked the notice from his websites, "If you buy one of these, please start from my site so I can get a commission," or words to that effect. BTW, I'm curious. Scharf touts his, um, elegant conduit clamp mount instead of "highly breakable plastic." While I have properly designed bike headlights bolted onto my bikes, I have friends who use plastic mounted headlights on their handlebars. I've never heard of one of those mounts breaking. Is that a common problem for those posting here? -- - Frank Krygowski |

Is that a common problem for those posting here? Not so much failing, but a good solid mount helps a lot. I've tried the twofish adapter and it's rubbish. Almost anything with rubber in the assembly is bad, so in a rare defense of CRN, I would say the proposed adapter is good. Using it to mount a flashlight is insane. How do I know this? I've tried. Getting a flashlight to not blind oncoming vehicles but still illuminate more than 6ft in front of your front wheel is impossible imho. You *need* to shape the beam. |

While I have properly designed bike headlights bolted onto my bikes, I have friends who use plastic mounted headlights on their handlebars. I've never heard of one of those mounts breaking. Is that a common problem for those posting here? Well, I did, for a while, use two hose clamps to mount lights but one does have to be rather careful doing this as (1) normal metal hose clamps tend to rust and (2) stainless clamps come in two flavors, and only one type is all stainless and doesn't corrode. I now use plastic mounts as it does solve the corrosion factor and since the police now seem to use plastic for handcuffs and as Americans now hardly ever seem to carry a "pocket knife" they are probably secure against theft. -- Cheers, John B. |

I've had plastic light mounts break. Lezyne does offer a mount with an aluminum clamp as an extra cost option which is useful for their lights, but their lights are quite costly. Where I've had mounts break in the past is the plastic or rubber piece that goes around the handlebars, not where the light slides into the plastic mount. I haven't had any rust issues with the steel conduit hangers, maybe because they are covered with heat shrinkable tubing or maybe because I don't get them wet very often. It's quite easy to do. A flashlight with zoom capability is essential in this task. In any case, I just posted that Google Doc because it was easier to refer people to it than to start explaining all the details every time someone asked me about the light. http://tinyurl.com/ccfl26650 or http://docs.google.com/document/d/17TCGXl9N0dD6wNhNHAyf-ZeEfZLp2uf6A4D40BTgZwo/ |
