"Top Gear 'glorifies speed and aggressive driving'"

That's what transport 2000 said.

From the same article

"Top Gear, presented by Jeremy Clarkson, always put safety at the top of its
list."
"'Top Gear always observes stringent safety guidelines with regard to speed
when it test drives any vehicle - whether it is on its test track or
elsewhere,'"

"Speed and aggressive driving is never glorified on the programme."

From which you missed off the attribution: A BBC spokesman said.

Anyway taking this deeply Off Topic, I'm wondering what will happen if
Audi win at Le Mans this year. Will Jezza and the Hamster suddenly
become dieselheads, or will they even notice?

Anyway, my point of view ... you can blame whatever you like (Heavy Metal

ITYM reasons, not excuses. They are a cause of the behaviour but do not
excuse the behaviour..

I don't think so, I know where you are coming from, but I'm just saying that
they are quoted as reasons behind the bad beahaviour but aren't IMO the
actual reasons. The real reason, is someone being a ****.

So, in a way they are excusing the drivers bad behaviour because "JC told me
to do it".

That statement is not related to the findings of the research that the
article was reporting. That is an old statement that the author quoted
from an (extremely) anti-car organisation which is apparently sponsored
and supported largely by those whose livelihoods depend upon the
suppression of free-choice in transport options. It certainly isn't an
authoritative or objective finding - it is rather ill-informed if
anything. It certainly *wouldn't* take a genius to work that out.
