Dude was way way fast.

Watching him ride away solo in the last 1K of a TDF stage is one of
the coolest things I've seen in the sport.

That was more Jelle Nijdam's specialty, wasn't it? Did Van Poppel do 1k
flyers?

You're right. I had him confused with Nijdam.

Not anymore, he's DS for Cervélo now. Also, why is JP van Poppel ****ed
up? (other than for running his wife's team).

Because anyone who would DS for their wife's team is ****ed up, by
definition. You don't see the wife of a quarterback on a football team
coaching the team. If you did, the entire NFL would be ****ed up and
people would stop watching it.

That explains a lot of their recent success.

Their success has little to do with him. Try Emma Pooley.

So your answer is: no reason (other than for running his wife's team).

By the way, I agree; mixing personal and coaching relations creates all
sorts of problems, especially in team sports and more especially in
women's team sports.

Here's another great example of why being the coach of a team your wife
is on is retarded:

http://www.velonews.com/article/81948

McDonough said Sparks was brought on even though his hiring
broke a USOC rule prohibiting coaches from engaging in
ìsexual/romantic relationships with athletes or other
participants over whom the coach has evaluative, direct or
indirect authority.î

Thanks,

Magilla

dumbass,

a very large percentage of female riders are romantically linked to
their coaches. i don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing,
but it is a reality.

gov. bodies have to acknowledge it and design their policies
accordingly.

Not just riders, all sports. Lots of women mistake attention for
affection, lots of coaches don't turn down fit pussy.
