Default Appalling attack on cyclist paramedic

A paramedic has been viciously attacked while treating a patient over the weekend.

The appalling act of violence took place as North West Ambulance Service paramedic Ian Shortman attended a casualty in Manchester City Centre.

As he knelt down to give treatment, an assailant ran up unexpectedly and kicked him in the head.

The frightening attack left Ian disorientated and vulnerable and he was taken to hospital where he underwent numerous tests including a CT scan as a result of dizziness and headaches.

The attacker was restrained by three doormen in the vicinity and the patient was taken to hospital. Greater Manchester Police responded and an arrest was made.

Emergency medical staff, unfortunately, run the risk of assault by
patients all the time.

I recall some years ago seeing a man stretched out in the kerbside
gutter in absolutely freezing weather in the early hours. I rang for an
ambulance. When the crew arrived, the caution with which they approached
the supine figure had to be seen to be believed. They told me that such
"customers" often become violent when disturbed.

That shows just how much you (don't) know - it was about 30 miles from
London.

Take up your description of the locals with .... ooh.... let's see...
the assembled throng at Millwall Supporters' Club?

Or any crowded boozer in working class Essex.
