I'm amazed they find the time, given all the red lights they have to be riding through... People really do write letters to local press about lycra nazi RLJers whilst 140 pedestrians a year are killed by drivers who deliberately take stupid risks: yes very much so. snips roger |

No doubt the driver of the car was actually a cyclist in disguise. After all motorists never drive on pavements, according to some, only cyclists do this. That's the running joke in this family. Whenever husband or I see a motorist jump a red light, and there are *loads* in our neck of the woods - it's endemic in Norwich - the saying is, "Look it's another cyclist in disguise." :-( Do motorists there overtake queues of stationary traffic waiting at red lights, specifically to jump the lights? YES. Tempoary traffic lights for roadworks. Lights turn red. Two or three cars in front of me stop. Pick up man behind pulls out and blasts through red lights. Police car further back in queue pulls out, blue lights on. Pick up pulled over after roadworks But off course we all know the driver was a cyclist in disguise.... G -- Gwyn |

Do they drive up to a light that has been red for a while, slow down as they approach it, check to see that the way is clear, then proceed to jump it? Do they approach a red light at a pedestrian crossing and weave their way through the people crossing? Do cyclists park on pedestrian crossings (often while using a mobile phone) preventing pedestrians from crossing on green? pk |

Motorists sometimes do this at road/rail level crossings. They will overtake several other motorists waiting at the flashing red lights. At those crossings with cameras these stunts are filmed for posterity, the film sometimes includes the last few seconds of the motorist's life as the train crushes them and their motor vehicle. -- David Hansen, Edinburgh I will *always* explain revoked encryption keys, unless RIP prevents me http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2000/00023--e.htm#54 |
