Yet another old lady mown down by a pavement cyclist
"Pat Harris was left bruised and dazed and needing hospital treatment after
a cyclist rode into her while she was on the path. The 62-year-old was left with a badly fractured wrist and had to have an operation to have a metal plate inserted in her right arm. Mrs Locke said she reported the incident to the police but was told that without CCTV footage or details of the cyclist, except that he was in his 20s, there was little hope of tracing him. The cyclist was oblivious to anyone else's safety. " http://www.warwickcourier.co.uk/news..._run_1_2741518 |

Surely, as a decent member of society, mortified and tormented by the horrific injuries he has inflicted on that poor woman and in contrition for his misdeeds, he'll probably hand himself in? Then as well as taking whatever minor admonishment the law prescribes in even such terrible cicumstances as those described, he will also wish to compensate his victim financially? After all, he will also undoubtedly be Considerably Richer Than she is. |

An elderly woman was left bruised and dazed and needing hospital treatment, in a lot of pain, with a broken wrist Now I would say that was very bad and quite shocking - or as we say "horrific". Good to see that the holiday has really grabbed your attention - I hope that you are not neglecting Mrs Mason. Does she lend you her mobile just so that you can keep in contact with us? Simple and Sad. -- Simple Simon Mason - who cycles at 25mph in 20mph limits just because the limits do not apply to cyclists. This includes exceeding the speed limit past three schools. A total disregard for the well-being of vulnerable road users. The actions of a true psycholist. |

"Horrific injuries" is a badly fractured wrist? Wonder what adjectives JNugent would use for someone in IC? Nothing - he would have run out of hyperboles long before then. Hold the front page, everyone. According to Mason's Gospel, a badly fractured wrist so damaged that it has to be reassembled with a metal plate inserted into the right arm is not the slightest bit horrific *at all*. Simon Mason's clearly no cissy when it comes to pain and injury and he pooh-poohs any suggestion that a 62 year-old woman will be the slightest bit inconvenienced by such a trifling mishap. "Ee, lad, it were nobbut stuff and nonsense and fuss about nowt", said Mason (47), who comes from (near) 'Ull, where they are clearly made of stern stuff. However, he added, if it transpires that the cyclist has received the slightest bruise or scratch from the encounter, all bets are off and he reserves his position on public execution for the harridan who had dared to obstruct the free passage of the obviously-innocent cyclist who was enjoying himself and doing no more than cycling at speed along the pavement. |

We have been told that cyclists can afford insurance, as they earn more than others, also we have been told that as cyclists are more intelligent than everybody else they would realise the need for insurance, cyclist also have much more concern for their fellows so they would not want anybody else to suffer a loss because of their actions. |
